Medina Healthcare System is pleased to introduce two new family practitioners who have joined our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. Dr. Michael Zhao and Dr. Benjamin J. McCollum bring years of experience in family medicine and a commitment to providing compassionate care to patients of all ages.

Dr. Michael Zhao received his undergraduate degree in bioengineering from Rice University and his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. He is passionate about caring for the underserved and worked in rural correctional medicine for several years before joining Medina Healthcare System. He specializes in patients suffering from chronic diseases and believes in helping them manage their care holistically and comprehensively.

Dr. Benjamin J. McCollum received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in Bethesda, MD. He completed his residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center and his Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship program at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. Dr. McCollum served twelve years in the Army and most recently served as the Chief of Primary Care at Weed Army Community Hospital. Dr. McCollum specializes in family practice with obstetrics.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Zhao and Dr. McCollum on board and look forward to providing our patients with the highest level of care possible!

Dr. McCollum will see patients in the Castroville Clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and will see patients in the Hondo Clinic on Tuesdays.
